run away

Jim and I had a great thought when we were 15 or 16 to run away to NY and work in his uncles pizza parlor. Unfortunately, we took his mom's Chevy and a bottle of Tequila and 10 joints. Somewhere in arizona, we ran into a little mechanical problem. Jim was an outstanding mechanic, and the we had blown a freeze plug at the rear of the engine. Tools on had, pliers and a small flat nose screwdriver. Somehow we managed to talk a man into letting us use the hook on his truck to drop the engine. We replaced the freeze plug, full of hope and tequila. We drove approximately 10 miles and the car kind of screeched to a halt. Only it wasn't the brakes but the engine. See, we had to torque down the torque converter and didn't have a torque wrench. LOL, don't even know if we knew we needed one. In our desperation, we called Dutch Edelbrock to come and rescue us. Damn, we finished the Tequila, smoked all the weed we had left and kind of went to sleep in the car in Gila Bend AZ. Approximately 4 a.m. We heard someone yelling CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAArl, Jiiiiiiiiiiiim and when we came too and looked out the window of the car, it was my Dad and brother George. Dutch has given us up. Holy crap we said as we poured ourselves out of the car. Needless to say, it was a shitty ride home. Carl Harmon
